Are you ready to play the Friar’s Game?
Key details:
Number of players: 3-6
Equipment: 5 coasters per person and a marker.
Disclaimer: This is not a drinking game. The Friar created this game to play with anyone. Please be Drink Aware.
Setting up the game:
On the back of one in every 5 coasters, please draw a bee. The coasters for each person need to look the same at the top and bottom, so the only distinguishing feature is the bee on the bottom of one of the coasters.
Please repeat this step for every person playing. For instance, if 5 people are playing then please mark 5 coasters with a bee.
Game Rules:
Each player needs to have their five coasters in a pile with the “unmarked” side face up.
The first player picks a coaster from the pile and places it in front of them.
The next person to go is the one on the left of the starter, they repeat the actions of the first player and then the person on their left goes. The game continues like this until all players have had their first turn.
From now on, each player can decide to add a coaster to their first coaster (they take from the pile of their own coasters), and let the next player go. Or, the player may choose to begin the guessing of how many coasters they can turn before being stung by a bee.
To do this the player will say a number out loud of how many they can flip before being stung. The player must flip all of their own coasters first, after that the player can flip other people's coasters one by one.
Other people can raise the bid until no one wants to go higher, (the bidder always flips all of their coasters first).
If the bidder is right and they are able to flip that number of coasters without being stung, then that player is half way towards winning the game. This is because the winner is the first person to get two correct bids, if the bidder is wrong, you lose a random coaster to the middle of the table, only you will know if you have lost your sting or not.
The game continues until one player has won.
